DecarboNet Environmental Annotator
The DecarboNet environmental annotator comprises a number of components for analysing environmental texts. ClimaPinion is a DecarboNet opinion mining application which aims to annotate documents with sentiment related to climate change. Sentiment is classified into positive, negative and neutral polarity, as well as more fine-grained emotions such as fear, anger, joy etc. The person holding the opinion and the target of the opinion are also recognised if present (e.g. a particular scientist is worried about fracking). ClimaTerm extracts terms related to climate change from the text, and links them (where appropriate) to the instance of that term in relevant Linked Open Data ontologies. The annotator also identifies and classifies a number of linguistic features such as conditionals, questions, directives and so on.
